Percentage-wise, most of the so-called 'experts' claim that 'waste, fraud, and abuse' might amount for single to at most double digits when one is looking at the entire, immense, Federal budget.

If it were really a bigger percentage, how come every President comes in saying they are going to cut 'waste, fraud, and abuse', but NEVER manage to cut anything significant? Both Republicans, and Democrats win elections by campaigning on the promise to 'cut waste'... but when elected, the hard choices begin.

Beyond fraud, you've got to CUT ENTIRE PROGRAMS (and, before you get upset again, I'm FOR much of that, too). But just try cutting the Export/Import Bank subsidies to American companies (why should the taxpayers subsidize companies that export? If they can't make it the free market are they entitled to a subsidy? That's the same argument people make for welfare).

Or any of the hundreds of thousands of special interest provisions in the tax codes, or direct transfer payments to Fat Cats. (Is it necessary for McDonalds to get a special tax write-off for advertising expenses overseas [or Boeing]? Are people going to start eating burgers if the special tax code pork provision goes?)
