It's not the spelling of asymptote that gets me, it's the misunderstanding of the concept. It's annoyingly similar to those who use the term exponential when they mean only that both the first and second derivatives are positive - that is the rate of increase is itself increasing.

An asymptote is a limit; that is the difference between the asymptote and the function (demand or supply if you like) declines monotonically (inexorably, always, for time without end). The idea of anything going asymptotically to infinity is meaningless; infinity minus any finite number is infinity.

Ps With spelling, I am often tempted to adopt the supposed one-time strategy of journalists on the Manchester Guardian. The story is that the editor was a stickler for spelling who admonish reporters who made mistakes. They reacted by making many obvious "mistakes" so they could pass all off as mere typos. The Guardian became so famous for typographical errors that it is still known by many as the Grauniad.
