You've listed some good bets, Russ. Any one of them could breakout while you're away.

Have a good trip. You'll be missed on this thread.

Regards,
Bob

Don't believe anything those norteños tell the turistas, without checking first ... hard to say if the rumours are true about them having a deal with Disney, but those wonderful old stone buildings, just casually thump them with your knuckles as you're strolling past, the ones that give a hollow bonk, those'll be plastic or fiberglass, do not lean on the smaller ones [and watch out for the security devices, be especially careful in inviting them to dinner, some have been known to preach whacko evangelical religions] ..... you may find it difficult to avoid the net, with a cibercafé on every third corner, unless you're particularly vigilant ... this happened to me one time, and i pay for it to this day, my wife remains convinced that this alone foiled her plan to thoroughly inspect every g.d. zapatería in Veracruz

Colonial, pre-colonial, post-colonial, über-colonial, you name it - there is only one estado verdadero in pobre México, and that is el Estado de Chiapas ... and yes, by all means, tell the rest you got filled in by a chiapaneco

Dear Russ,

Just so you wont be lonely at the Ferrari dealer, I either added to or bought new, all the names on your list last week plus a few from Claude, Jim and Liz after selling Bay and Nevsun.

Which way is the Bank?

Have a nice break and don't eat the yellow water or is it drink the yellow snow?!

Best regards,

P.S. Glad to see you are reviving on your own. Wayne and GT were arguing on another thread who would do the mouth to mouth!!

** OT ** I've been to Colonial Mexico. Great, isn't it?

I love Oaxaca. Incidentally, I came across an interesting conjecture regarding Mexican silver a few months ago. Apparently, in the 1880's the Phillipines were using silver Mexican pesos as currency and Mexico was getting pretty prosperous on the exchange trade.

One of the purposes of the Spanish-American war was to force these pesos out and get the Filipinos using dollars. I have no idea whether the story is true, but I know Dollarization is not a new concept. The British used it with pounds for years.
