I think it is their responsibility to motivate students. It is their primary duty, imo.

I know they have other responsibilities, but they shouldn't be teaching if those other responsibilities come before their students. We may just have to fundamentally disagree on that.

Why do you assume a responsibility to teach them anything, if you are predisposed to assume that the most important lessons are immanent?
