I have to say I find the whole concept of grades pretty meaningless. I am much more interested in skills.

For example:

Writing Rubric-3rd Grade

3. Highest Paper
Well organized, clear writing
Proofread for spelling errors, punctuation, complete sentences
Interesting to read and shows creative approach
Sentences have a lot of variety

2. Average Paper
Somewhat organized, somewhat clear writing
Proofread but still has spelling errors and/or punctuation errors and or sentence errors
Sentences have some variety

1. Low Paper
Not organized at all, and/or not clear
Proofreading not apparent
Sentences have no variety

Oral Presentation 3rd Grade

3. Highest Presentation
Well organized, uses complete sentences, has good eye contact
Has a nice loud voice, and varies tone of voice
Makes the material interesting
Makes creative use of audience or props

2. Average Presentation
Somewhat organized, uses mostly complete sentences, has some good eye contact
Sometimes has a loud voice, and sometimes varies tone
Has some props or makes some use of audience

1. Low Paper
Not organized, does not use complete sentences, little to no eye contact
Does not use a loud enough voice, does not vary tone
No props and/or no use of audience
