i'll take a guess re address bar.

it's there, but so small you can't see it - try to grab hold of some of this little dividers up there with the mouse and move to left or right.

Right click your upper toolbar and see if you have a checkmark next to the "Address Bar" listing.

Add the Address Bar to Your Taskbar

You can add an Internet URL address bar to your Windows XP taskbar. Doing so will let you type in URLs and launch Web pages without first launching a browser. It will also let you launch some native Windows XP applications in much the same way as you would via the Run menu (so you could type in calc to launch the calculator or mspaint to launch Microsoft Paint. Here's how you add the address bar:

Right-click on the taskbar, select Toolbars, and then click Address.
The word Address will appear on your taskbar.
Double click it to access it.
If that doesn't work, your taskbar is locked. You can unlock it by right-clicking on the taskbar again and uncheck Lock the Taskbar.
You may also need to grab the vertical dotted lines beside the word Address and drag it to the left to make the Address window appear

This is a strange one:

One company took the address bar off Explorer!

MS Explorer with no address bar. That's right my wife works for a national brokerage firm and their Internet Explorer on the company's network doesn't even have the address/search bar. She gets the company web page with links to all the company sanctioned sites (about 20.) Now that's control!! As a result, all the brokers pay for their own internet access outside the company net.

Comment:
I downloaded a program, and then afterwards the Address Bar for typing in URL's went away. It says Address, but there's no bar for typing in anything. How do I get it back on?

open IE and then go to View,Toolbars, then check Address Bar. if this is checked then see if the Lock Tool Bar is checked. if it is uncheck it and see if you can drag open a space for the address line. if that does it then check lock tool bar and then this should not happen again. hope this helps....

Pezz,

Have you tried this yet?,

view>toolbars--lock the toolbars... uncheck the 'lock the toolbars' if checked, (address bar checked.)

Try rearranging the toolbar sections by right-clicking on a blank portion of the toolbar and moving the cursor(toolbar). The address block just might be hiding in there somewhere.

If all else fails you could try deleting explorer and then re-installing... Just a thought.

Hope it helps.
