specially tailored for perma bulls where they report the pro forma (we made a profit if we exclude expenses)...

As a trained accountant, I appreciate the complaints of those who bemoan the way accounting can be used to "improve" the reported financial results for a given company - in this case QCOM.

However, in the interest of fairness, I hope those who are complaining about proforma accounting now act consistently when QCOM books say $500MM of non-operating income from one of its investment which bumps up EPS 50 cents per share.

That is, those who don't like proforma accounting now, when QCOM is booking investment losses, forfeit their right to complain about future earnings if they include substantial non-operating profits.
