All asudden what seemed a comfortable investing position suddenly changes as the price opens fifty cents to a buck lower, and you don't even know it happened 'cause you're off innocently working somewhere. You come home, find out what happened and, woe ... what ya gonna do! Yup, another innocent momma and another innocent poppa gettin' the stickin' To be quite honest, I know people who were invested in GE (me, but I got out in time because I am a shorter who knows better ;-), INTC, IBM and more during the last few months, who got hit coming home that day. These are not "bad" companies", but they all ask the same questions, "why did no one tell us the truth?" I saw Elliot Spitzer on the TV quite a lot in the last few weeks, followed by mom and pops and investment clubs asking the same questions, "why nobody told us the truth"? I thought about this a lot recently. Perhaps they did hear the truth but refused to believe it. Some in the energy business warned about Enron and others. They did not have all the facts at that time, but had good hunches ;-) Many refused to believe what was going on. We are personally paying the price for it now, due to devaluation of a respected company in the energy business, which we accept. Short sellers have a roll in the market, like it or not. They also have a long history of not being well thought of for centuries, although everyone would like believe it was created just for our times. LOL When markets turn sour though, everyone wishes they would have listen to the bears. Because the rug was pulled out from under them. I commonly hear people say now, they wish they knew how to short a stock because they have lost faith in our system. This saddens me. I have never shorted a stock for lack of faith in our system. As far as hero-worship goes, I hate that term personally. It comes with so many responsibilities, that many can not live up to. Anthony comes to mind. He is guilty of bad judgement, if anything. JMHO Regards
