The market I am in was pushed by the same excesses....but the tech crash in our area doesn't seem to have done anything to stop the demand for homes. Population growth seems to be the main factor, and the population here tends to have good stable jobs, regardless of what happens with tech.

Agree affordable housing is a problem, but I doubt it will get better or housing will get too much cheaper any time soon in the most desirable areas. Housing actually is pretty cheap right now, considering the low interest rate required to buy it--unfortunately many people don't seem to know this or how to take advantage of it.
