I don't think they will go that route again. Two years ago, many firms were doing it,.... it was considered a "clever" way to add to the bottom line. But the SEC sent a letter to virtually every firm involved, threatening a public hanging if it didn't get cleaned up in a hurry and everybody got the message. This is just a bit of overhang from those mad days IMHO.

I have a great deal of respect for Dell's marketing ability, as any company that can get the public to buy a high maintenance item like a PC via mail order, has to brilliant at marketing. Especially when one can buy an identical item from one's "local cloner" for a lower price and have the advantage of local service. It boggles the mind, but they manage to do it and even grab market share at the same time. That said, the PC market is just so saturated now, and the pricing pressures are so extreme, that Dell will not be able to provide the growth to support the PE. I think the stock price takes a hit at the first genuine whiff of disappointment, ....which is likely this summer.

Mikey is looking "for other markets to address", but few of them are without well-established players, so good luck to him.

Best, Earlie
