One difference is is that SSRI has been heavily promoted for several years. After the next few weeks let's really see who has the most resources under their roof.

Does anyone have information about BacTech (YBA on TSX)?

I just took a small position in it. It was the subject of a PR blurb on Kitco a week or so ago by David Vaughn. Initially I was very suspicious since he writes like a "pumper", but the more I looked into it the more interested I became. From the company website...

" The company owns proprietary bacterial oxidation technology that liberates precious and base metals from difficult to treat sulphide ores and concentrates. It has the advantages of improving metal recovery at significantly lower capital and operating when compared to the traditional treatment methods of smelting, roasting and pressure oxidation. BacTech is a proven leader in the commercialization of bacterial oxidation technology in the metal extractive industry.

...Bactech has strategic alliances with Mintek of South Africa, Industrias Penoles S.A. de C.V. of Mexico, Paques Bio Systems B.V.of of the Netherlands and Rothschild's of Australia, all industry leaders that add technical, operation and financial strengths."

Pretty big partners for such a tiny company. It's trading at around 70 cents and has a market cap of less than $8 million (Canadian). Trades very thinly, with less than 6 million shares in the float.

Seems to me that the implications of this technology being commercially successful could be very significant, given the huge number of precious and base metal deposits with difficult or uneconomic ore due to low recovery rates.

I'm going to keep an eye on it -- and I'll increase my position if I don't hear anything negative about them! (Liz? :^)
