Hi Karen, it wasn't "just so happens". It is carefully calculated in the programming of the helpdesk function. I know, I've worked on these things, and you have ALL the stats in realtime, to help program the voice-menu, and answering script, and policies. If you like, you can let a troublesome consumer wander down voice-menu hell until ending up with ... a hangup !! These automated systems suck the life and hours out of consumers. The best defense is a 10 minute letter, sent for $3 to the irritating contemptuous vendor of your choice, particularly those that provide life-support functions for our lifestyle, such as utilities, taxes, gasoline, cable tv, phone. We've devolved into fascist companies only Musselini could love. In their philosophy your time is worthless, you exist only to pay them. "Public service" is a joke, in business, as well as government. There are only a very few exceptions.
