More NI Nortel jobs to go

news.bbc.co.uk

The company is one of N Ireland's largest employers

There is growing speculation that more job losses could be announced at Nortel's Northern Ireland operation. This follows an announcement by the telecommunications company last month that it was making more redundancies worldwide.

On Tuesday a spokesman for the firm said they were assessing the impact of the decision on the County Antrim factory, but that the outcome would be communicated to the workforce first.

In the last two years more than 1,000 jobs have been cut at the company's Monkstown plant in Newtownabbey as a result of the recession hitting technology companies.

Nortel: a market leader in fibre optics

The plant makes telecommunications transmission equipment and has been a market leader in the provision of fibre optics.

The Newtownabbey operation is Nortel's largest optical systems house in Europe. Last year the company won the Northern Ireland Exporter of the Year Award.

The company is a subsidiary of the Canadian-owned global hi-tech corporation which operates in 100 countries.

Hey! Johnny Walker, Me not Jonhny Rocket, OK? Me is Mr. John Paquet. That Rocket guy is the poster who lost huge money big time. Do'nt ever confuse now OK???

Johny Walker, Nortel did not open gap up so did not stay wide open as yet, it obviously need a bit time.

But one day this week or next, NORTEL would for sure "BREAKOUT THAT CD$3.00 GAP UP AND STAY WIDE OPEN AND HEADING $6.00 OR EVEN CD$9.00 BY JULY 22, 2002 JUST RIGHT BEFORE ALAN GREENSPAN TALKS TO THE CONGRESS."

Be patient, Johnny Walk, That is my advice to U.

"ONCE NORTEL BREAKOUT THAT CD$3.00 $6.00 IS INSIDE, $9.00 IS VERY VERY POSSIBLE; THIS IS TOO MUCH OVERSOLD MARKET."

GO FIGURE JOHNNY WALK, AND I'M NOT KIDDING U ALL, YAHOHOHOOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOHO!

"DIE BOTTOOM IST DER BOTTOM UND DAS BOTTOM FOR NORTEL."

TRANSLATION INTO OUR " YESTERDAY man " ROB V'S WORDS: " A BOTTOM IS EXACTLY THE BOTTOM; NOTHING ELSE." GO FIGURE, JONNY WALKER.

John Paquet

Even today Nortel does display strength, Dow down more than 100 points and our Nortel only down 2-3 cents in the NYSE.

Go figure, Johnny Walker.
