Isn't licensing a recurring stream? Why dont they count?

I am not under the delusion that stock price actually has anything to do with earnings, but I am confused by why you say the Oracle earnings are good.

Earnings, down 20%
Revenue, down for the fifth straight quarter
Licensing re-ups, down

The only "positive" I could see was new customer licensing up, but let's be frank here, that has "revenue recognition" concern written all over it. After all, this is Ellison we're talking about.

Again, I'm not in any way suggesting ORCL should go up or down based on this earnings report, just wondering where you see the positives.
