Paul, Very good news on both the B2B ratio and the billing revenue

Quick summary:

18:05 ET Semi equip book/bill rises to 1.26; bookings rise to $1.08 bln : Semi equipment industry book-to-bill ratio rises to1.26 in May from revised 1.22 in April; Pru est for May was 1.23, so this report appears to be a bit better than expected. Bookings rose to $1.08 bln from revised $996 mln in April (these are rolling 3-month avgs).

Key message from the Semi-Industry:
"Recent forecasts showing expectations of low, single-digit growth for the chip market in 2002, suggest we will see continued sequential improvement in semiconductor capital spending with a more robust market anticipated in late 2002 or early 2003."

***

Definitely a mixed bag in AH. This report was very strong, AMD's performance weak, ORCL's perfomance good but guidance "iffy". It's clear though that chips stocks outside of the PC area are doing much better, what with MCHP, NSM, Fairchild's and others reports of increased revenue expectatiations. And many are predicting a PC cycle upturn soon since it's been nearly 3 years since the downturn and business leases are up. Government spending in the security area are going to increase next year as well. There has also been a lot of talk of replacing computers there that are outdated.
