i know what you mean. my experience is whenever company release earnings without guidance, it is always prudent to wait for cc. the only occasion one is ok is stock has beaten down a lot going into earnings, such as csco last month. but orcl already went up a lot from its low. those who chase really are not thinking their risk/reward scenario.

orcl released not only earnings, but also revenues which beat the estimates, and revenues have been the sore point, so it tricked people.

Marsh is an expert at that "game" and he has it down quite well... I have seen him (live) do it at least twice... a true master, I would say a tad lucky but hey... rather lucky than good...

[and he is both]

A little story about being "snookered"......not sure if this is where the phrase originated but.........

I worked my way through college shooting pool.....I really played a good gave for an non-pro....only one guy ever beat me consistently....some got lucky...but only one guy was really good.....

One day as I was making lunch money...a guy was standing there....patiently waiting for his turn at the table....I had been there for a couple of hours....never lost a game...so I owned the table....

He spoke with an accent....turned out to be Australian....we chatted as he racked the balls and I asked him if he played much....his response was " not really" but I play a lot of snooker... and it's sorta like this....

I had never seen a snooker table.....

bets were made.....

I went hungry that day....

I got snookered.
