The rule of thumb on sodium is one gram per calorie. It's hard to do that if you eat processed food so maybe two grams per calorie might be reasonable. But V8 juice, even the low sodium version is maybe seven or eight grams per calorie which is way off the charts.

I have a juicer. It makes wonderful juice that tastes better than canned and is better for you. It's really not all that much trouble. It's a lot of work compared to buying cans of juice, but it still only takes a few minutes to make a batch of juice.

Even better, eat whole vegetables. You get vitamins and fiber, too.

There are many professionals who do not believe excess sodium is harmful unless you already have a hbp problem which needs to be brought down. Salt does not cause hbp.
