Strange to see that site listing odds on a draw, when we all know that there are no draws in these games....

I saw the first half and a bit of the second of the Korea-Italy match before being called away to ferry kids around. Missed all the drama. Quite a surprise: the Italians seemed very much in control during the part I saw. The defence seemed able to strip the ball away pretty much at will when Korea tried to penetrate, and Italy really should have been able to score again on the break.

Obviously things changed. I would bet that fitness was an issue. May also be an issue with Spain; they were dragging more than a bit late in the Ireland match. Should be interesting: Spain will have to come out at full throttle and try to gain a solid lead - more than one goal - in the first half. They may be able to do that. The Koreans have huge heart, but at the skill level they were clearly outclassed early on against Italy. The Italians simply failed to convert that advantage into enough goals to assure victory. Can Spain do what Italy couldn't? Maybe: they also have a huge amount of skill up front, probably even more that Italy, even with Raul doubtful.

I hope the USA takes Germany out, though it seems unlikely. Turkey-Senegal will be a very physical match and could go either way: both sides have some very solid players. Brazil-England... hoping for Brazil, but the defence is surely a concern. One thing I do predict for that game is goals. I just hope the Brazilians score more of them.

We'll see....
