They can always keep delivering gold from the mine, and the assumption is that at their hedge point, the production of gold was profitable. Typically, the leasing rate is less than rates on treasuries, so they make money on the cash received for their shorts, or they can use the cash for expansion, or they can cover some of their positions when the market swing their way. I have no idea why they go to such hedging rates.

They did not say that.. Don't fool yourself it'd not good for you. Here is what they said:
