Its the American way, to blame someone else for your own ignorance. If you sell me a car at too high a price its your fault I was so stupid to buy it. Yikes! I really hate that kind of thinking.

It reminds me of arguments with my sister. When I present her with facts that are contrary to what she thinks, her pat reply is, "I never heard that." My reply when she says that is, "The truth operates independent of your ability to know or comprehend it." Or I say, " Wait, you mean you didn't get that information pamphlet? Maybe you did and you threw it away."

The whole freakin country thinks that it is the job of the seller to inform the buyer and make sure they are smart enough to understand....what ever happened to "buyer beware" and people taking responsibility for their own decisions? Why do we feel some obligation to protect buyers and not sellers?

<<<...while some people seem to get a real kick out of criticizing the real estate profession for being greedy, crooked, corrupt, and in the same boat with used car dealers, isn't the real problem the lenders who offer every incentive except a kitchen sink to keep the loans originating at any cost, and the buyers who fall for this?>>>

You could try to use the same argument to get securities brokers or, even, used car salesmen off the hook. The fact is that brokers are salespeople, so there will be a bias. I agree that it is the buyer's responsibility to be informed, so they should realize the motivation of brokers in all fields. In fact, even buyer brokers in real estate have conflicts of interest when it comes to representing the interests of the buyers they represent.
