I don't think it will be that easy. There are a lot of people who bought JNPR @ 100+ or MSFT in the 90's and so on who have not yet sold. I cannot imagine those people being in a mood to become buyers after they take another 30% clipping from here. That leaves waiting for a new crop of investors, and even if Barnum was right there probably won't be enough of them (us?) to drive the market back up in any reasonable time frame.

Without doing any serious number crunching to support it, my feel is that if it takes us 6 months to reach the bottom from here, it will take us 3-5 years after that to get back to here.
