All wars are political wars. the myth of "unity" was trotted out on this thread in the few days after 911, and was quickly proven, once again, to be myth. The leaders of the Democrat party have developed a reputation with 80% of the public for looking for any excuse to take a shot at Bush, treason notwithstanding. You see it every day here, as well as by the Dem's national "leaders", speaking in the media. Our own left wing media has not been this anti-American since impeachment, taking equal shots at Israel as well as the Bush Administration, and conducting an outrageous crusade for "rights" for captured terrorists...

Going after al queda and its affiliates is not political and has universal support. Problem is georgie boy wants to go after others preemtively and that is pure politics. If we do a good job on al queda others who may be a threat will think twice. Aside from this little but important war W has no support from many both here and abroad. By trying to broaden and extend the war he hopes to keep up his popularity. Rove encouraging him to keep us scared is part of the strategy. There will always be terrorists but most of the time it requires police action not a military campaign and a police state. Bush hasn't screwed any interns but he it sure seems like he is trying to screw the american people.
