The Star-in-the-Butt-Galvin-Core company will once again attempt to compete against TI, after having
turned around their own butt many times already, sometimes smiling, mostly not.

Not that TI is perfect either, but at least they move forward at a steady pace, butt steadily behind.

parallell to the substrate, as well as the cellular mousetrap with hinges and microphone and the cheese
placed on a keyboard, as well as the seethrough rubber keyboard, highlighted from below and
temperature controlled by a little diode, the way it always has been done.

SMC Networks and TI Forge Relationship to Deliver Wi-Fi Compatible, Double-Speed 802.11b Technology

IRVINE, Calif. and DALLAS, Jun 20, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- SMC Networks, an industry-leading provider of wired and wireless networking solutions, and Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI), a leader in broadband silicon and software, today announced a relationship to deliver 802.11b-compatible wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions that will provide higher speeds and increased WLAN network coverage area for consumers.

Since TI's ACX100 802.11b MAC/Baseband integrated chip is backwards compatible with existing 802.11b networks and products, SMC's EZ Connect(TM) Turbo 802.11 products can increase the performance of wireless LANs by extending the effective distance of the network up to 30 percent. The products also feature up to a 2x improvement in throughput with an optional high-performance 22Mbps mode that is compatible with existing 802.11b networks.

"Users that are eager to experience the flexibility and productivity increases associated with the implementation of wireless networks have been quick to adopt the now-pervasive 802.11b standard. However, as demands increased for greater data transfer speeds, the only options were to either replace their WLAN equipment or to await next-generation technologies that would be compatible with their existing hardware," explained Sean Keohane, CEO of SMC Networks Worldwide. "The new Wi-Fi compatible solutions delivered through our relationship with Texas Instruments will allow users to experience higher speeds and better performance in their 802.11 networks."

Through the incorporation of TI's ACX100 chip, SMC's WLAN solutions can provide up to a 30 percent improvement in linear reach resulting in a greater coverage area and the need for fewer access points to achieve desired coverage in home or office settings. The ACX100 also leverages advanced multi-path technology enabling SMC to provide high-performing 802.11b (11Mbps CCK) products with improved performance in noisy, interference-rich environments. The first SMC WLAN products based on TI's ACX100 will be introduced in the upcoming weeks.
