Don, CNN has had a long-established policy of never using the words "terror" or "terrorist" except in quotes. In their reports, the "attacks" were always done by "militants" or "activists"

Today they broke that policy. I was just speculating why.

but people end up dead indiscriminately anyway

And, in light of mentioning the obvious, assassinating a known terrorist is hardly "indiscriminate". If you want to object to it, you need to find other grounds because taking out a specific target is about as discriminating as it gets. As opposed to blowing up a bus in rush hour.
