AMDs's death is greatly exaggerated..........by the INTC longs. And its not INTC's boot that's getting bloodied..........a cash burn of $3 billion in two years and a stock in the teens. I would say that's getting very close to the throat.

Ted, I'm happy for you. Most people would be depressed by their company preannouncing a ~$200 Million loss but you manage to see the bright side there because AMD has caused Intel a problem. I guess it was all worth it. You are a charter member of the AMDroid hall of flame.

EP, what makes you think I own it? My daddy didn't have the last name Sanders.

My only sin is not falling for the INTC spin. If things were so good, INTC wouldn't be lowering prices on their chips, wouldn't be selling their BRCM stock nears its low, wouldn't be experiencing falling margins. Sure AMD has problems but so does INTC.

And why are you so a protective of a holding that has to be screwing with your portfolio's net worth?

Elmer,

Intel lost the equivalent of AMD's market cap. in two years. During that period, AMD's book value increased by about 500 millions. How has Intel's improved in %?

The loss of this Q is as much of a disaster as the 250 millions in operating income of Q3'00 were a fairy tale.

If the market pick up in 2003, these days will be quickly forgotten.

The odor the market is smelling now is the result of the overfeed of 2000 : half-digested and quite smelly bullsh...

Elmer, Ted is out of the stock. He is more like me in that we are interested in making money in the market (have been out of stocks for over a year). I am glad AMD is still around because if Intel had no competitors we would still be paying $800 for a top of the line 1.3 GHz chip right now. Instead, competition has forced Intel to pull out all the stops and Moore's law is still intact.
I'm not happy all you poor Intel investors are losing money right now, but at least the consumer is the winner in that we are getting plenty of MHz for the buck. As far as I'm concerned these are grim times for AMD and Intel stockholders.
Give me an I....just kidding.

Ed P.
