'Productivity without profits' was good for impressing the impressionable segment of international investors, until they discovered that they can have 'no productivity without profit' without leaving home and avoid suffering currency risks:0)

As productivity goes up, employment goes down.
This can get real ugly.
FWIW productivity usually goes up in a recession as more and more people (who have no cash to spend) are laid off.
