Most problems are when doing it on water and getting yourself into the water.

The kite is leashed to your wrist so you don't lose it. The board is leashed to your leg on a bungee cord. If you get it wrong, the kite pulls you along and the board bounces behind, occasionally getting enough tension in the bungee to launch itself at the back of your head. Helmets mandatory on water. Not too much risk on land so long as you don't get dragged across a road or into power cables.

A bit of thinking is required before setting out. Good cheap fun and 2 mins to set the kit up.
