This probably relates to relative naval power. It's a waste of time to build a blue ocean navy if you can't keep a close eye on the enemy-just ask the Japanese. Anyway, the British held on against Nazi Germany in what can only be described as a miracle, until first the Germans drew in Russia, then the US got involved. From the end of 1941, the result of the conflict was a foregone conclusion. We cannot even begin to imagine what kind of world we would have had to deal with if the twin slave powers of Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia had both survived the conflict. We learned about the importance of superior intelligence from the British, and, as a result, the Cold War was won before the beginning of the next century. The CIA has been under public attack since the fifties, with the effectiveness of that slander rising since the Vietnam war. This unjust public thrashing was the most successful covert operation the Soviets ever engaged in. They had the sympathies of the American left and their lapdog media in the US, so the myth of CIA evil persists even to this day. American liberals know they can't get away with trashing American service men and women serving overseas without public outrage (even though they can, it seems, use slimy lawyers to void their ballots at election time). They can, however, get away with slandering the "soldiers in the shadows", who serve with equal bravery, but cannot step out and defend themselves from the cowards and traitors who constitute the American left. Equivalent cowards and traitors in the Congress and the former Clinton Administration encourage and support the cheap shots taken by the left against these heroic defenders of freedom. It is up to the American people to remember and be outraged at the left for these cowardly statements, and to use their vote to make sure that these scum are driven far, far from power at the first opportunity. It is a civic duty, and our citizens will be measured in history by their success or failure at the task...
