Race, It's a great article. There are people who are able to make a living at that dream job. I think Wayne Crimi is giving it a go, and so far seems to be doing ok.

I think it is tougher than trading the market. The takeout is much larger at the track. And they don't seem to have as much control over inside traders. <g> Also, the long term nominal value of stocks in the US is up. That means that the long bettor should have an edge over time. There is no such underlying tide at the track.

I have had some wondrous lucky streaks, like most bettors, but I doubt I could do it if I knew the rent depended on it. When that pressure gets applied, you end up betting War Emblem to show, and then he finishes 8th. <G>
