"The CLEAR implications of your statement is that Canadian business owe their primary commercial allegiances to other Canadians"

What I said was this:

"I spoke of their "allegiance"...not their legal requirements. Allegiance is based on group identity and interaction. The pretense that allegiance (in the context I voiced it) is required by law, is simply contrived foolishness"

My other point (that "It has nothing to do with the comment that "allegiance is based on group identity"), was a response to your comment: "Why not trade only within their province then? Or their town? Or their neighborhood? Or their family?
Commerce quickly collapses under this regime. That border between the US and Canada and the US and Mexico is really an artificial contrivance, a legal fiction."
"

You have a habit of taking bits and pieces from various posts, and accidentally jumbling them together to form assertions that were neither made nor intended.

"I would call that content-free."

Content is more than a barrage of charts, graphs, and numbers. Content may be gross; but it may also be subtle. Oft-times it opens a curtain to reveal the reader to himself.

In this instance, where you have found it "content-free"--it would seem a more likely explanation that you are simply incapable of processing or grasping anything more subtle or refined than your feet and your elbows!

I sense that there is a great deal in your life that seems to you to be "content free". And in no way may this circumstance be taken to bear the weight of either blame or censure.

"Being a great power brings many problems with it. Things are so simple any more. The simple morality of childhood no longer fits."

You mean that thing we did as kids: "I'll kick the shit out of you!", no longer fits?! What a pity...

"And I have long held that the US is d**ned lucky to have a peaceful, stable democracy with an educated and industrious populace for a neighbor"

Do you see how surely we are taking you over...;-)
