Slider. Right. The $100 million isn't the issue.

It's chump change and the media knows it. It's simply an attention grabbing gimmick that TV editors know will play to the average viewer who is clueless about WS and the scale of the numbers involved there. Most viewers don't even know who their congressman is. Or for that matter the capital of most of the states surrounding their own! No wonder it's been so easy for WS to pull the wool over the publics eyes for so many years!!

Anyway, the bone of contention - from the point of view of Merrill and other WS houses - is that if these prosecutions were to continue it would threaten to lift the veil of spin and deceptive advertising carefully crafted for WS by the financial media - for most of this century. And, by so doing, it would expose how WS systematically lies and cheats individual investors out of hundreds of billions of $ every year.

The massive negative publicity that will surely continue to build against WS if further prosecutions are launched is what the big boyz are concerned about. Repetition, repetition. And if it goes on long enough? Bingo. J6P wakes up one morning with the epiphany that it's time to find out who the hell his congressman is and start badgering him to put those crooks into the pokey and throw away the key!!. The realization that WS has been engaged in a thinly veiled, massive racketeering operation would represent liability to WS that's hundreds of times the amount of that puny monetary fine.

If the message is pounded in month after month for another year of how WS has operated for decades? Even the gullible and naive American public will be aroused into a firestorm of rage. And THEN? No amount of bribery will stop the terrified political weasels in Congress from roasting WS to save their own miserable corrupt little butts.

If and it's a big IF. If WS can get their amendment (covered in the 2 articles in my previous post) that will stop all any future State AG investigations?

Then the only one that can go after them is that darling of the WS elite, the proverbial wolf guarding the hen house that they handpicked to head the SEC........Harvey Pitt.

Stay tuned. I know I will. This is going to get very interesting between now and election time.

Be that as it may. Some physical gold as part of the LT financial plan works just fine for me.

Cheers,
