Wow. Now wouldn't that stir things up a bit? Intel and Sun make that elusive phone call, patch things up, and let bygones be bygones--and Dell becomes a primary channel for Sun while picking up a version of Unix to compete against HP-UX and IBM AIX. Crazier things have happened.

MAN..... The Only Major Server Vendor currently Not On Board With IA-64. Sun Has Been To Intel, What Dell Has Been To AMD. Intel/Sun/Dell, Would Certainly Give Strong Competition To IBM And HP. Not Only Would It Be Good For Intel, And Sun, And Dell, And All Those Solaris Customers, But Just Think Of All Those Future IA-64 Soaris Customers. Hey.......... Wouldn't THAT Also Rain On Ole Jerry's Hammer Parade? Intel/Sun/Dell Could Be A Win/Win/Win.......Win, IMO.

Ironic If Intel Ends Up Being Sun's "White Knight", Eh?

Hi Duke, RE: "What's standing in the way of Solaris running on Intel's 32- and 64-bit architectures? It could be a simple phone call."

It could be.
