"Where is the MSFT of the gold business?" Where is the MSFT of any business? MSFT developed a defensible monopoly in a large business. A fifty percent move in gold will lead to a 200% move in gold stocks -- perhaps a little better. Not MSFT, but not bad.

well, yes and no, some of the smaller cap gold stocks (you could check things like HL, BGO, DROOY) have been multi-baggers from their bottom prices.
