Another example of the music industry's foresightedness? I've probably picked up at least two dozen CD's over the past couple years after hearing new music on spinner.com or KPIG, though I assume that since KPIG is an FM station, they're already paying royalties.

It appears the impact is being felt already. If this article's right, webcasters are actually being forced to pay higher royalties than the commercial stations do. Maybe I'm just dense, or clueless, but it seems really weird that the record companies spend millions to get airplay for their music, and then do what they can to limit the outlets.

BTW, about that Talk of the Nation show about beers - I did see a bottle of the "most expensive beer in the world" last week. I resisted the temptation to pay 60 bucks for it.
