Its: Until a few years ago, I used to put some faith in most conventional data sources. The U.S. BLS hedonic pricing baloney put an end to that for me for government poop and the absolute stupidity of IDC's annual PC data did it for most "independent" data providers. That is not to say that there are no decent data providers, as there are.... it just means that when the provided data doesn't agree with what you are staring at every day, it makes sense to question the data.
