Ken-

I upgraded from 95 to 98 without needing medical help, however, I am far from expert on this. Hopefully someone else can advise you on upgrading from 98 to W2000. I am sure the purists will advise a clean install but I hear you on the software. Stuff comes free with most computers but buying it can be expensive. My own admittedly simplistic solution was to buy a new computer with W2000 on it. That worked!

Kidding aside, if you are running a P2 machine or older, a new machine is a real good idea. Dell has some great deals on P4 machines right now and you could go straight to XP.

best,

Rick

I haven't used the product but I have read several good reviews on AlohaBob. It's supposed to transfer your programs and settings directly from the old computer to a new one. Windows2000 is much more finicky about program compatibility so I would go with XP. XP has an option of running programs in a sort of emulation mode so it can run many programs that 2000 will not.
