Well, that's the problem then - no, "perfect information" is a economic term, gathered from the marketplace by individuals, NOT the government. Heavens no.

The government's control of information is control of the people. Government information that is collected and created belongs to the public, not the secret police or bureacrats. The only solution to misuse is to make all such information public, with the exception of bona-fide military secrets, of which there are practically none. The public cannot trust the government to "make good use" of secret information.

Bottom line: Citizens should have privacy, not government.

Under this administration particularly, as well as previous, the arrogant all-powerful government operates exactly opposite. You are correct in fearing the new bureacracy. My other point is, you have much to fear about the current sitation as well.

Jefferson:"when the people fear the government, you have tyranny, when the government fears the people, you have liberty"

Worse, government covert influence on the mass media should be made a crime punishable by prison. As it is, our various agencies happily supply agents as "journalists", "editors", and owners to spin the news without accountability, according to previous CIA directors.
