I almost woke up the whole house screaming at the tube for him to get back on his line just before the kick. With the bend that craftsmen can put on the ball it is very easy to deceive keepers with this type of shot, as the trajectory off the boot is very difficult to judge for the goalie. Seaman was looking for a cross with a very similar trajectory. Ronaldinho took off a little side spin and added a bit of topspin - no way for David to tell until it was too late. Also a tough save to make after the punishment his back took earlier. Ole Dave was trading without a stop loss on that free kick, he had nothing to lose by playing it safe and starting the set play from his line. Best goal of the tourney in my books based on sheer audacity, opportunism and pure skill/instinct. I would have loved to see England win, but Brazil was the better team by far. Better ball skills, more imagination, better off ball movement and far crisper passing. The Brazilians move towards their players or into spaces when one of their guys have the ball, whereas England tends to do neither. Some beautiful one touch football by Brazil to setup multiple shots on net. Really have to feel for him (Seaman) after all he did to keep them in the Cup, but I'm sure there were a few experienced goalscorers watching who also saw the opening just before the shot. It's an instinct thing and the Brazilians have no equal on that front. I'd love to see them play Korea. I think that would be a dream match, as the Koreans have a quality that is hard to put into words. Hard to move off the ball, hard to beat to the ball, excellent ball skills, real grinders, speedy and also great instinctually. Very hard to play against that skillset especially on their home turf. Bit disappointed as I was pulling for England and the US, but hard to be down with this event ongoing. FIFA leader is correct in that we need the best refs not token refs. For the sake of the sport, let's be politically incorrect for a change, but not to the degree shown by the Italians.
