I the same thoughts. However, to give some benefit of the doubt, there are a few brass hats w. actual integrity. Smedly Butler comes to mind. I've seen a few contemporary as well, including those that vehemently oppose SDI, for example. But beyond that, if you are serious about political purposes of combat, you are also serious about the goals and as many means to that end as you can find, including on-combat. Mindless combat is destined to failure.
