That could be an issue. I've always admired Buffett for not splitting his stock. It keeps the strong hands in, and prevents severe meltdowns.
Some splits do make sense, though. I think Warren's letting BH get as high as it has been to be a bit of ego mania. If you've got a stock that's at 10,000, it can't hurt to have a 5 for 1. A 2,000 stock is still out of reach (seemingly) for most investors but the most aggressive.

All the splits just made it more likely that prices would fall. All the IPOs just made it more likely that more would fail, or be bought out. I'm surprised more buyouts haven't occurred yet. But as the bears rage, more companies that are bargains are becoming even bigger bargains.

Ken,

We may see years of sideways movement.

If the Bull is indeed a long way off, I much prefer the sideways theory to the alternative.
