I go on the theory that the shares tell us what's up with POG in the near future -- not the other way round and all I said was: the the action was not nearly disheartening as it might have been. Gold barely budged up, but HUI closed positive.

Not sure about hedge comment -- gold shares are up phenomenally since the dollar started sliding -- one could even say the rise in the POG and miners was a bit predictive there.

I think support for the miners is just a little lower than where everyone started buying that one Tues ... another move down won't surprise me -- but some flat that extends way into the fall or early winter would. That would make me bearish and I'd likely sell them all. <ng>

Don't hit me -- I sold almost all my trading positions yesterday and today.

It is not inconceivable that they just start rocking again right here, too.

The stocks have been a bit erratic, but the HUI (which is the gauge I use, forget the XAU, too many mixed signals from the hedgers) shows a nice up with a single decent pullback which is now being retraced. Still bullish to me:

The metal is clearly bullish, same sort of pattern as the HUI:

Gold is still the single best hedge for ClownBuck weakness (other than shorting dollar futures, of course).

Good point.... we need MEGA dollar news here to move them higher. My strategy is to sell the bigger ones and buy the calls [tiny canadian drillers] incase the big one hits.
