Even the bears are getting concerned that the selling is overdone, from the looks of Barron's this week. Tech is dead and will remain so for a while, Samberg says, although a couple of guys are predicting a short-covering rally in tech, with lower lows later.
The guys who pick those out-of-the-mainstream 3-letter stocks on the NYSE are having some real winners. Hey, a 70 percent gain in a year sounds pretty good right now.
I've been a disinterested quasi-bear for a while, and a lot of the big caps are still way overvalued, but there are some deals in this market.
My contention, basically, is that the worst is over, but we haven't had THE bottom yet. And sure, there are more skeletons to emerge, but this market has become much less risky than it has been over the last couple of years or so.
