What's this. the Village Idiot is complaining about the refereeing. Up until now you were preaching that it was impeccable. Do you have double standards. I guess Momma's silk stockings came from that Spanish sailor.

The worst thing about this referee, is that allowed many shoving and pushing without being called

What little discussion of the World Cup I heard today on sports radio was about how too many fouls were being called thus impeding the flow of the game. I must say, from my admittedly limited perspective of having watched a ratio of about 1000 basketball games to every one soccer match, that there's far more clutching and grabbing in the NBA! Meaning I thought what I saw called in the Korea-Spain match to be a reasonable number of fouls.

I thought clearly Spain was the more talented team, but the Koreans were just so incredibly well conditioned (or perhaps because they were continually pumped up by the crowd it appeared that way) that the longer it went the better chance they had to win. However, as someone rooting for Korea, I still was happy it went to the shootout because Spain still was making the most of any scoring chances.

My heart goes out to Spanish fans... but as the US proved against Germany, the team that plays better for all 90+ minutes doesn't always win.

I agree with you , we need new system to TRAIN and choosing refs. Same standard should apply to all games...
