RE: Sprott - at last Barrick have acted publicly, no doubt Sprott's retraction was because of the threat of legal action. It has let Barrick set the record straight in a high profile way.

Sprott retraction:

Looks like Barrick finally found someone they could sue as an example and collect their expenses and perhaps a good settlement for slander, libel and defamation. Sprott is a billion dollar company, so could afford to pay up.
