I don't know how many critics of this show realize that it is one of a series on tolerance, the other two being racial/cultural and religious. Perhaps it would have been better had one of the other topics be broadcast first.

But conservatives (like the rest of us) understand
that nothing promotes acceptance of a political, racial, cultural, or religious
subset faster than positive depictions on television. This is precisely why my
friends and I tend to cheer programs like Ellerbee's--and precisely why many
more conservative folks do not.

This is a very good point, the best argument against the show. Ellerbee said that they wanted to get to kids young before they developed their prejudices/values, the label depending on which side of the argument you're on. I sure wouldn't want my kid watching a TV show that encouraged such a dangerous concept as not picking on your classmates for who their parents are if I were a bigot. Make the children pay, I'd say.
