Ken,

First make sure that the task bar is turned on (Start / Settings / Task Bar Start Menu...). If the task bar is displayed, right click on a blank area of the task bar, select "Toolbars", and make sure that the "Quick Launch" toolbar is selected. Then look for a short bar on the task bar, position your cursor over the short bar (cursor will change to a "<-->") and drag it to expand to the size that you want.
