Hi Mark,

I disabled the automatic setting for "LiveUpdate", but still got the same error when doing a backup.

I also did a search in the Symantec knowledgebase and Google, but couldn't find anything on NetDetect that seemed related in anyway... except, on Google, a number of examples similar to what I am getting, but without any comments as to cause or solution. It is related to automatic LiveUpdate. I also have a NetDetectController.DLL in my symantec liveupdate folder, but as I said, I've disabled the automatic LiveUpdate.

I'm at a loss. The tape backup seems worthless if it's not backing up up the entire drive.

BTW, that SirCam virus (worm) was caught while downloading my e-mail and not when I opened it. To each their own, but I update my virus definitions daily (check twice a day for new ones), have Norton autoprotect enabled and run a complete scan every night before shutting down. I don't use the preview window, nor do I open attachments before verifying they were virus scanned. Call me paranoid, but I'd rather not go through the aggravation and grief of getting rid of a virus if I can stop it first. Just my opinion.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully someone will find a solution.

Marty
