How about this scenario:

Second q growth comes in around 5% and this begins to show up in companies raising estimates for Q3. Today's gloom and doom is replaced by a realization that the US economy is rebounding strongly. Strong growth attracts money back to the US and the $ recovers against the yen and euro. By Q4 growth is at 8% and people start worrying about inflation in 03.
