Was the trashy remake "Mars Attacks"?

I thought it preserved the original title. Mars was always attacking us in the movies. A cool and obscure movie is "Rocketship X-M." ("X-M" stood for experimental-moon). But the first rocket to the moon, financed privately, was knocked off its trajectory by a meteor, and ended up going to Mars. Lloyd Bridges was the captain. The crew found that Mars has breathable air, and then eventually discovered that It is populated by a stone-age people, who are the survivors of an advanced civilization destroyed by atomic wars. The crew came under attack (throwing rocks) and managed to blast off from the surface. They got all the way back to earth, but then realized they lacked the fuel for a controlled landing. But as they hurtled to their doom, they were able to radio their story to the controllers, and thus warn earth of the dangers our planet faces. Lloyd had fallen in love with a beautiful female scientist, and they went to their death bravely, in each other's arms. You need a hankie to watch this.
