I understand what you mean by the ripple effect. Although most death row convicts are probably not as sympathetic as the one in the movie. It may even be that in some cases the families of the person executed are relieved. That still doesn't make the case for execution for me though. Nothing can make that case for me anymore. It is simply something I am not willing that society do in my name. I'm not a zealot so I can't revile the other side too much. I know how they feel. I used to be them. But dealing with the state over many other things convinced me I do not want the state in the business of execution. I don't want anyone in the business of execution, actually. But the only folks I can control with my vote are the people who represent me- if I am in the majority.
